SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Required:
• Knowledge of computer software programming, design, implementation, and software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies
• Skilled in research, project planning, and implementation
o Ability to develop and entertain a battery of possible technical solutions to complex problems and ultimately decide and implement solutions
o Creative and innovative thinker
• Excellent written and verbal skills including
o demonstrated skills in authoring specifications, documentation, design, and testing related documents
o ability to deal with difficult customers and situations
o documenting problems and clearly communicate their resolution
o presentation of facts, figures, models, and technical concepts in a way that others can comprehend
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Good working knowledge of Windows operating system and office products
• Hands-on extensive knowledge of
o Java programming, J2EE, Web Services, XML, EJB
o Knowledge of a critical subset of these technologies
-JSP, Struts, JMS, JDBC, Swing, Webstart, HTML
o Knowledge of one or more these database technologies
-Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2
-Hands-on use of SQL
o Knowledge on the use of 3 or more of these computing platforms
-UNIX, Linux, Windows, AS/400 and MVS
• MVS developers will know some critical subset of the following:
o JCL, COBOL, Assembler, TSO/ISPF, DB2, MQ, and REXX
• Basic level (or better) understanding of other varied computing concepts including
o Networking, Installation Tools, version control and source code repository systems, enhancement request and bug tracking tools, user interface design conventions,
• May also have C/C++ programming skills with knowledge of OS-specific low level programming knowledge

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or related. If Bachelor degree is unrelated, will have commensurate additional related work experience.
• Typically has 3 to 6 years experience
• Must have hands-on and full life cycle software development experience

Desired:
• BS Computer Science or related
• Advanced degree
• Technical certifications (such as Microsoft products, DePaul University Computer Career Program, college certificates)
