Manager, Build & Release

What we are looking for

• Complacency has no place here. You must be passionate about build & release processes and automating them.
• Success is contagious. If you have it we want to catch it.
• We need leaders. Mentoring others and leading must be part of who you are.
• You have to have done this before. We need at least 6 years of SCM experience. For 2 of those years you have to have lead or managed others.
• We can’t be holding your hand. You have to be able to come up with your own solutions and influence others that the solution is the right way to go. At the same time it can’t be “it is my way or the highway”.
• You can’t work alone. We need people who work in teams and with teams across the country and the world.
• What you say and write has to be clearly understood by all.
• While experience is really important we would love to know that you also went to school to learn about engineering. If you went back to school because you love it so much, that is even better
• You should have worked closely with development and QA teams to configure & manage builds and deployment through various software development life cycles and you should have managed build and deployment plans.





If this description isn’t structured enough for you try this:

• 8+ years of combined experience in large scale software systems. Minimum 6 years as part of build and release team. With 2+ years as manager or lead release build & release engineer,
• At least 2-3 years of Release Automation experience
• Expert and hands on in Ant. Knowledge of scripting languages.
• Experience with deployment in Java, J2EE and Jboss Application server, ability to analyze and resolve build and deployment errors in Java.
• Knowledge of tools and technologies for Continuous Integration (e.g. CruiseControl). Experience with PPM (from HP) is a big plus.
• Knowledge of Subversion Setup and Admin.
• Demonstrated ability to lead release engineers in builds and deployment
• Experience in working with globally distributed teams
• Strong interpersonal skill and oral and written communication skills.
• A BSCS or BSEE is required.
• Demonstrated quick learner and self starter, and has the drive to get things done
