Job Description : Seeking an embedded software design engineer to assist in the development of next generation Ethernet, ROADM, and optical transport platforms. As a member of the engineering team, you will design, implement, and enhance the embedded software of optical transport/ROADM product line. Responsibilities include the following:

Design and implementation of major features in the operating system

Providing extensions and enhancements to the OpVista OS libraries

Analysis of customer and marketing requirements for feasibility, cost, and development effort

Providing input to project schedules

Analysis of defect reports and development of software patches when needed

Writing functional and design specifications

Requirements : Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in C/C++ development for TELECOM/DATACOM equipment (i.e. DWDM, SONET/SDH, ETHERNET)

Must know operating system fundamentals

Experience with VXWORKS

Embedded systems design and debug

Experience with PowerPC processors

Experience with Low Level HW/SW debugging and integration

Experience with ICE and BDM/JTAG debugging tools

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Highly motivated self starter and able to work with minimum supervision

BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering


Desired

Understanding of transport technologies (i.e. DWDM, OTN, SONET/SDH)

Understanding of layer-2 protocols such as Ethernet

Experience with redundancy and high availability software design

Experience with Object Oriented Design

Experience with PowerPC processors a plus
